Gilbert Days Royalty

The Gilbert Days Royalty have a community platform. They are on the lookout for kind deeds and ask for Good Deed Detectives to join their search. Today's news often reports the negative side of life; somewhat ignoring the acts of sunshine being performed by good hearted people. This group of young horsewomen donate many hours of community service and are honored to tell their kind deed stories. They visit schools and share their knowledge of our western heritage and the beauty of the horse. So, let's trot along a bit further and find out about each one of the young ladies on the 2011 Gilbert Days Rodeo Royalty.

Chantel Miles

I'm Chantel Miles, daughter of David and Kay Miles. I hold a special place in my heart for our western heritage. It is an honor to represent Gilbert and the sport of rodeo serving with the Gilbert Promotional Corporation. They have worked hard for over 38 years to support and promote our western past and equestrian lifestyle.
My legacy with the GPC continues as I previously served as the 2006 Gilbert Senior Princess and the 2007 Gilbert Teen Queen.

I have many interests, but my favorite passion includes my beautiful Paint horse, "Boomer" as my trusted partner. We have enjoyed team penning competitions, western pleasure shows, rodeo performances, trail rides, photo sessions and parades-including the Tournament of Roses parade. We have joined with the Cowgirls Historical Foundation in many adventures of high profile events, patriotism and community service. Such service has enriched my life considerably.

After graduating from Corona del Sol high school with honors, I attended the University of Arizona on an academic scholarship. I was recently accepted into the Chamberlain School of Nursing where I am continuing my education to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. I plan on being a Nurse practitioner in Women's Health. But, wherever my path leads, I will continue to cherish the qualities of the equestrian lifestyle and our western heritage that I hold dear.

Watch for my court this year as we all work together to help the GPC keep the western spirit alive!

Happy Trails to You,
Chantel Miles

TATUM THELANDER

I am Tatum Thelander. I am honored to serve as the 2011 Gilbert Days Legacy Rodeo Teen Queen!
I attend Mountain Pointe High School where I am an honors student and enjoy being involved with choir, various clubs, playing badminton,
and serving as editor of our yearbook. My horse, Tarzan, has been a part of our family for over a decade.

Gilbert Promotional Corporation has been a part of my family's life for three genrations. My Grandfather Ed Nasser
has been a dedicated member since its origin. My mom served as the Gilbert Days Big Apple Rodeo Queen in 1983. I am honored to continue that legacy as I share the past through stories and pictures of the oldest and largest non-profit organization of Gilbert: The Gilbert Promotional Corporation.

Community service and camaraderie has always played top billing with the GPC and still does today. Our rodeo royalty has an ongoing program called
"Kicking Up Kindness" where we are on the lookout to celebrate good deed detectives and kind deeds from all walks of life. We invite you to share any uplifting stories with us. We also invite you to join the ranks of the Gilbert Promotional Corporation as we continue the legacy of volunteers who are patriotic and hard at work to preserve our western heritage and the sport of rodeo.

So Saddle Up and we'll see you on the trail!

2011 GILBERT DAYS LEGACY RODEO Kennadee Riggs

Howdy Y’all! I am Kennadee Riggs.

I am 10 years old and excited to be the 2011 Gilbert Days Legacy Rodeo Missy. I have quite a family legacy with the Gilbert Days Rodeo.
My aunts Kelsee and Marjon served as Gilbert Days Rodeo Queen and Marjon went on to win Miss Rodeo USA 2000!
My aunt Taryn was also once the Gilbert Days Rodeo Missy, just like me. Back then, she used a trusty steed, a handsome horse named Sonny. That horse is still around. He’s my best friend. I am excited he gets to be a Rodeo Missy's horse once again. Taryn went on to be Miss Rodeo Arizona 2009. My mother, Shanda Brady Riggs, was also the Gilbert Days Rodeo Queen. She created and initiated the Kickin’ Up Kindness program, which is still the platform for Gilbert Royalty today.

Our world needs kindness more than ever. We can go about changing our own world for good when we look for opportunities to serve others. I look forward to serving the people in the town of Gilbert, in many ways this next year. Having the title of rodeo Missy is just one of them. I also love to dance, play the piano, share time with my family, attend church events and excel in school.

I hope each of you will plan on being a good deed detective and will kick up some kindness in your world too. Come see us at Gilbert Days in November, and tell me all about your kind deed adventures. Until then, I will enjoy riding the legacy trail as the 2011 Gilbert Days Legacy Rodeo Missy.
